I recently did a post on not knowing what my style was and kind of running through examples of things I like. I have some expensive taste thats for sure. Too bad I don’t have have a bank account to match this taste.

Have you heard of StyleMint, ShoeMint etc??  These two are responsible for StyleMint, umm need I say more?

Well, here is my point. When you first sign up for the website you answer a series of questions so that they can give you an idea of what they think your style is. UMMM they hit the nail on the head!

“Take cues from timeless beauties like Jackie Onassis and Grace Kelly and wear these tops with polished pieces and chic footwear”

I will take that and run with it! I am in love with this site. One more cool function is when you select a style that you like, the editors write a brief way to wear it: SCORE!

I may or may not have bought myself some Christmas presents…oops!!

I know it has been what seems like forever since I have shared one of my icons with y’all. But I refuse to say I have been neglecting it, I just blame school. Finals, papers and the dreaded group projects have been just insane. But don’t you worry, here’s a new one.

On my personal blog I did a post last week about the absolutely fantastic and gorgeous Crazy. Stupid. Love. star, Ryan Gosling. So for this week I have decided to highlight his equally as fabulous co-star, EMMA STONE.

Not only is she one of my favorite young Hollywood stars acting wise right now, but she is incredibly beautiful and hilariously funny. Her comedic timing is just spot on and I find she really captures the audience whenever she is on screen.

Some of her acting chops include Easy A, Superbad, The Help, and Crazy. Stupid. Love. She will also be in the new Spiderman movie, alongside rumored boyfriend, Andrew Garfield. Uhhh….yes please.

She also is not afraid to take some daring fashion risks, with that fiery red hair. I am utterly obsessed with just about every look she rocks on the red carpet!!

So, while I might not scale a mountain, or jump out of a really high plane to be the lovely Emma, I can sit here and completely obsess about her. It only seems like the healthy thing to do!!  Not only because she is gorgeous, makes me giggle, and takes risks on the red carpet, but, she gets to kiss some of the most swoon-worthy men in Hollywood….how do I get that job?!

pet peeve.

1 Dec

So sorry I have been a bit MIA here lately, finals are just kicking my little tail at the moment! But never fear, my pet peeve of the week is sure to brighten your day. It is now December, crazy I know I can hardly believe it, but it is that time of the year for cold weather, pretty scarves, hot chocolate and christmas music. There are many lovely things about this season but one thing I can not stand are tacky Christmas sweaters. They are just that….tacky.

Don’t get me wrong, I am all about dressing festive. Gimmie some sparkle, red and green or even some gold, but I draw the extremely dark line in the snow at articles of clothing that jingle, light up or are just plain horrible to look at.

There is a reason that they are called TACKY christmas sweaters, no one should wear them outside of a TACKY christmas sweater party. That is why we have parties dedicated to them, they are that bad they need a specific place to wear them. Usually these parties include friends laughing at how awful your sweater is and a contest to figure out who’s sweater is the tackiest. See, even we throw on these awfully bad fashion sins every once in a while.

So please people, do not don these itchy, oversized, noise-making uglies unless you are going to said TACKY party. And remember, substitute teachers do not get a free pass.

These are three of the reasons why I am absolutely in love with my icon of the week. Her one liners KILL ME. I knew about Rachel Zoe long before her Bravo television debut, but I can attribute the show to my now full-blown obsession with this woman. Everything about her just makes me giddy. She makes me want to move to Cali, wear almost every jewelry item I own all at once, and become a mini-Rach. YES PLEASE.

I can’t get over her obsession with gay men, tranny shoes, loads of fur and accessories that look like they could make her topple over at any second.

“In my mind, being overdressed is not a bad thing at all. What’s the worst case scenario? That you are the best-dressed person in the room? Who cares?!”

When she finally announced little Skyler Morrison was going to come into the world, the first thing that popped in my head….that boy is going to be dressed like Brad ALL DAY, EVERY DAY.

I just DIE for them. Seriously.

Check out The Zoe Report and sign up for her newsletters. They literally make my day.

Leggings, jeggings….whatever you want to call them. These suckers have made their way into just about every girl’s closet, no matter the age, size or sense of style. They are incredibly comfortable, easy to layer and good for those “fat days,” and you know we all have plenty of those. However, as ahhhmazing as these things we-consider-pants-even-though-they-aren’t are, they can easily be styled WRONG.

Ladies, I am going to say this once, and you should be paying close attention. Take notes. Write it on your mirror. I don’t care. Just listen up.

Got that?? I can’t tell you how many times I see girls who have a super cute top on, with cute accessories and shoes, then I look at the pants and I just cringe. Leggings are not meant to be worn with shirts that hit at you hips or the crop tops which can show a little midriff. So wearing said tops with the super thin legging/jegging/whatever do not give you the most flattering fit.

If you want to achieve that super skinny leg with whatever outfit you are putting together, please just opt for the “super skinny” jean. It is just as skinny as a legging, in fact they almost feel just like you are wearing one, but you will look 100 times better. My favorite ones are from Urban Outfitters, you will see me in them if I am not in my leggings.

See how much cuter that is!! No more of the dreaded pulls and tugs in the WRONG places. We will get rid of the ill-fitting legging trend, I can feel it!!

Whats Yo Style Lady?!!

16 Nov

I don’t really know what my “style” is but I know what I like when I see it. Although my friends can point to a shirt and say yea that looks like you, I have no clue how they do that. I consistently go for flats, in the past year I have collected blazers galore, and I am always up for a J. Crew website perusal.

So here are some things I have been wanting since like…. yesterday and maybe this can show a bit of my “style”.

1. Tory Burch Reva Flat 2. J. Crew School Boy Blazer 3. Anthropologie Aurous Tune Necklace 4. Joes Jeans “Lainey 5. J. Crew Cardigan 6. Michael Kors Fulton 7. Banana Republic Classic Trench 8. J. Crew Bracelet 9. Forever 21 Blouse

By looking at it all together I would say I am classic in my choices but throw in a little flair due to my love of big necklaces and fun prints for shoes. You can also check out my Pinterest account and look at the What to Wear pin board to see more!!

As I am currently watching an insanely long Sex and the City marathon on E! (I’m not complaining), I can’t help but think the age-old question….Are you a Miranda, Samantha, Charlotte or Carrie? I think with every good group of girlfriends, each one always relates more to one of these iconic characters. Personally, I will always and forever be a Carrie.

I know you are probably thinking, how cliche?! A girl who lives and breathes fashion and writes for a blog resonates with Carrie. But trust me, she is more than just an outrageous closet filled with tutus, Manolo’s and items that when paired together, look like she got dressed in the dark. Behind all of the glitz, glamour and sex, she is just a girl trying to figure out her place in life. Through her ups and downs, she always has three people who stand by her no matter what. Her best friends, her soulmates. I think this is another reason anyone can relate to Carrie. We all have those friends we can go to for anything and know they will be right there through every breakup, work catastrophe and every single bad outfit.

Carrie is one of those iconic television characters, who at some point you love, want to be, laugh and cry with, think is a bit off, or just sit in awe as she goes through every single emotion there is to feel. She is truly an icon.

“No matter who broke your heart, or how long it takes to heal, you’ll never get through it without your friends.”
